Don’t Tread On Me

A generation brainwashed
To never looking up the hill
A picket fence to hide behind
It’s plastic now, but still
No maintenance required
So don’t you tread on me
How dare you tread on me

No more ethnic enclaves
They’ve gotten over that
Which is not to say
They don’t have a way
To draw lines on a map

But change is like the cancer
It comes and goes, but stays
But here’s a savior
On his escalator
To make it go away

Now the castle walls are falling
And the Emperor is bare
They thought they were through with
The years of being scared

But our Ozzy is a madman
And our Donald is no duck
Our images are clearer
And they show we’re pretty fucked
Yeah, we ran out of luck

We talked about decorum
While the wolf was at the door
We argued on his purpose
As he slouched across the floor
Now he lives among us
I thought we’d learned before
We should have learned before

Nothing To Believe – 09/15/2020

The people in control are not
They’re running wild and can’t be caught
The handles have all burned away
And all the brakes are broken

We count the days to see it end
But so much on which we depend
An illusion of what used to be
Still, can the truth be spoken?

The compass spinning wildly
They lie like others breathe
We’re in moral failure mode
And there’s nothing to believe
Oaths aren’t worth the strength to spit
And the winners all deceive
The consequences have no defenses
And there’s nothing to believe in…
‘Cause there’s nothing to believe

Johnny puts on his marching boots
He’s indoctrinated with an ugly truth
And those who watch in horror ask
Why can’t Johnny see?
When you make a lie out of the past
Hope for tomorrow dies out fast
A dose of poison to the heart
RIP, morality

Can nothing stop this fall from grace
We see the drop like a star from space
It shines so bright, is it like they say
It shines too bright, so it burns out twice as fast

Here we stand, at once united
But the ugly truth has us divided
Played like pawns by grandmasters
Mate in 20, is there no defense?
Satellites feed us what to think
They’ve fed us well, we’re on the brink
Of fulfilling all their strategies
And all of our laments

Fever – 11/2021

Still waiting for the fever break
The future of the world at stake
They can’t tell the real from fake
A stage for tragedy

Still waiting for the fever break
When will they know the big mistake
Will it be before too late
And who can help them see

Eight score years ago was the fight
We staked our claim to the cause of right
A republic united, a shining light
If we could keep it lit

Too soon we caved in compromise
Too sad we didn’t realize
And now we’re on the brink of war
And now the slavers rise once more

The price of peace is vigilance
And the Devil takes the hindmost
We smugly thought we hadn’t passed
The no-return point signpost

Those who don’t breathe the real air
Will never smell the rot
They drive the slavers to fight their war
Without a single thought
